Women Are Making HERSTORY!
Who will be the 1st Women’s United States Champion?
With the announcement of the Women’s United States Championship on the November 8th edition of Smackdown by GM Nick Aldis, X (fka Twitter) was going crazy! Many people were excited for the women to have another championship to challenge for. And with that, both the women on the roster and the fans were thinking the same thing:
Who will be the 1st?
All the women are so incredibly talented and have great resumes both in the WWE or elsewhere. Assuming it is just for the main roster women, as the NXT girlies have the Women’s North American Championship, let’s briefly discuss some of the very many possible options to be the inaugural champion!
Something I want to do for each woman is list their accolades in WWE & any other major promotions they have been in (AEW, NWA, TNA/Impact, Stardom)
Chelsea Green (Samantha Irvin voice)
Chelsea Green was a name that I saw quite a bit on twitter after the announcement. She was advocating for herself, of course as she should. Green could be a very fun first champion. She has more than proved herself within the last few years being back in WWE. Putting her body on the line to make memorable moments: Ladder spot during MITB: 2024, Dumpster Match with Michin (who we will get to don't worry) on Smackdown, even getting moves from her tag partner Piper Niven (we will talk about her too!)

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion
Green’s character is both fun to watch/listen to and has proven she can go in the ring. Someone who has a 10 year in-ring career and has shown how persistence can get you far.
Michin (fka Mia Yim)
Michin has been overlooked and under utilized in the company for years honestly! Proving herself to be the Blasian Baddie & maybe the queen of the Street Fight ( in recent years). Michin has the attitude and the charisma to be a first good champion. She has put on great matches with former champions both on the main roster & NXT. Many times, getting so close to winning gold in WWE.

NWA FUW (Florida Underground Wrestling) Champion
TNA/Impact Knockouts Champion
While her time in WWE has been an uphill battle (Mae Young Classic, Retribution, injuries) and chasing championships, Michin would prove to be a badass inaugural champion. Over 15 years in the business, this title could be a pinnacle moment in her career!
Naomi (Feel The Glow)
The glowiest superstar’s name was another I saw a lot after the announcement online. Naomi has been on quite the journey during her time in the business. From winning gold at WrestleMania, to walking out of WWE, winning more gold, to coming back and still being beloved by fans. Naomi is one of the wrestlers that you just enjoy watching wrestle (and online cause she loves her banoffee).
For Naomi, she is a former:
TNA/Impact Knockouts Champion
WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion (2 Times)
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion
We all remember where we were when Naomi finally got to win the gold for the 1st time right and the feeling that came with that? WWE can recreate that again for one of the most agile wrestlers on the roster (not just the women’s) by giving her the 1st shot at being Women’s United States Champion.
Candice LeRae (Poison Pixie)
Candice is one of the women where you watched her wrestle men on the indies and thought she was the coolest person (or was that just me?) LeRae debuted in WWE during the Mae Young Classic, which was a phenomenal tournament (bring it back please?) While some may not like what she’s done on the main roster, you cannot forget the awesome things she did in NXT.
For Candice, she is the current 1st EVER WWE Women’s Speed Champion.
She is also a former:
WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion
This woman has over 20 years of experience in wrestling. She may be small, but she is mighty. You give her the championship, she will hold it proudly. She's been seen as an underdog and this would be a great opportunity to show her true potential in a main event scene.
Shayna Baszler (Submission Magician)
This is a sleeper pick! Where is the NXT limb-snapping, making girls tap, reign of terror Shayna? She has all the tools to be a dominant champion again on the main roster. The Pure Fusion Collective is not what Shayna needs. And that is coming from someone who loves Sonya and Zoey. She deserves to go crazy and put the entire locker room on notice (again).

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion (3 Times)
Remember when Shayna won the Elimination Chamber. single-handedly eliminating every other woman? That's the dominance she has in her arsenal. That is the kind of title reign we can get again (hopefully) if they make Shayna the inaugural champion.
Piper Niven (Scottish Powerhouse)
Piper is a dark horse in this title conversation. She is one of the strongest girls on the roster. Her little quips being with Chelsea Green have helped show her humor while also being an intimidating figure. Niven is usually seen as the muscle or the bodyguard, and this would be a great opportunity to show her as the star she is.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion
Artist of Stardom Champion
Having the strength & speed, Piper becoming the 1st champion would make her unstoppable. Winning would make her a viable threat, even though she already is one, to the other champions on the main roster.
Dakota Kai (The Mastermind)
Dakota Kai is a superstar that may sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Even though she is apart of one of the strongest factions: Damage CNTRL, Kai never really gets the chance to shine on her own. Her quickness and unique move set do help her stand out. Although she is currently injured, she still has the chance to being the inaugural champion.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion (2 Times)
WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion (2 Times)
Multiple time tag team champion! But when does Dakota get the chance to be a singles champion? To be the champion she knows she can be on her own! Depending on when management announces how/when they will decide the 1st champion, Kai has a really strong chance of making history!
Zelina Vega (History Maker)
Zelina Vega is the best of both worlds. She can talk on the mic, and back up what she says in the ring. Having been beside Andrade, and now Rey Mysterio, Vega has gained so much more confidence in the ring. Her move set is both quick & focused. Vega has been chasing a singles title since she truly became an in-ring talent.
For Zelina, she is a former:
Queen of the Ring (1st EVER)
TNA/Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champion
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion
Vega has shown in the past that she has what it takes to win a tournament no one expected her to win (if they do a tournament with this new title). Underdog, mighty, passionate. Much like others on this list, Vega is ready to hold her own championship and let her matches speak for themselves.
Now although I only wrote short blips for 8 women on the main roster, does not mean no one I mentioned isn't worthy! The main roster has a lot of stacked potential and women who are hungry for the chance at making HERSTORY! I am excited to see what the future holds for the WWE Women’s United States Championship & who will be the 1st ever champion!
